My name is Magda Richard and I graduated on April 28th 2018, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design.
Through my co-op experience working with companies like L Brands - La Senza and BCBGMAXAZRIA, I have gained valuable hands on experience collaborating with diverse fashion design teams in fast paced environments to help deliver excellent finished products. I am dependable, hard-working and I have the determination to take on any challenge. Proficient in Adobe Suite programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Excel. Strong skills in creating tech packs, good technical knowledge of fabric and garment construction.
Getting a chance to live and travel around Europe and North Africa opened my eyes to diverse cultures and people. Moving to the USA in 2007 from Poland brought me new perspectives and opportunities in fashion. Going all the way back to when I was a young girl, I have always had a love for elegant and feminine body accentuating designs with a focus on luxury ready-to-wear. American culture adds modernism and pragmatism to how I see and design for a woman today.
Recently, I discovered that abstract designs and architectural constructions are more intriguing because they help me look for more experimental treatments, resulting in cutting-edge garments that are also highly functional. My senior thesis collection “From the Past to the Future” focuses on the dichotomy of Frank Gehry’s architectural deconstructive style like sharp angles, asymmetrical shapes, clean lines, movement and Zaha Hadid fluidity and organic dynamism. My trip to Florence, Italy in 2014 intensified my interest in hardware. Custom made hardware is limitedly incorporated into my capstone collection. As a fashion designer, I want to promote artesian work in the USA and create quality fashion with intriguing construction while always maintaining feminine form, elegance, function and flatter.
